Rockbrook
Rockbrook(Irish:Sruth na gCloch)[1]is a small area, once site of a small settlement,[2]now semi-suburban, inCounty Dublin,Ireland.It is in thelocal government areaofSouth Dublin.
Location
[edit]Rockbrook is situated approximately 5 kilometres (3 mi) fromTempleogue,[2]south ofBallyboden,on theR116regional road,which is Cruagh Road uphill and Edmondstown Road downhill. The area lies between Edmondstown, Tibradden and Whitechurch,[3]within thecivil parishof Whitechurch.[1]The area is traversed by multiple streams within theOwendoher Riversystem, including Glendoo Stream; there were several watermills in the vicinity.[4]
Amenities
[edit]Rockbrook Park School,located in the area, is a fee-paying boys secondary school which had an enrollment 167 as of January 2020.[5]The school is located in Rockbrook House, a former country house builtc. 1770.[6]The ruin of Rockbrook Mill, a paper mill operated by aQuakerfamily until the 1830s, is nearby.[7]Also located in the area is the Merry Ploughboy public house.[8]
In and near the area are several cemeteries.[3]
