Roko(title)

Rokois a title of chiefly rank, specifically from theLau IslandsofFiji.

Its equivalent from theKubuna Confederacyis the Bauan form ofRatuandRofrom parts of theBurebasaga Confederacy.This title was widely used among members of the chieflyVuanirewaclan up to the mid-19th century. Increasing inte marriage among the chiefly households ofLakebaandBau,thereafter, saw the increasing use ofRatuandAdiby members of the Vuanirewa dynasty. The current heir to theTui Nayautitle,Finau Mara,uses the Baun titleRatuinstead ofRoko.This is true for all of his siblings apart from his younger brotherTevita Uluilakeba Mara,who is generally known as Roko Ului.
