Salas-e Babajani County(Persian:شهرستان ثلاث باباجانی)[a]is inKermanshahprovince,Iran.Its capital is the city ofTazehabad.[3]
History
[edit]Ancient history
[edit]Darneh/Derne is one of the historical places in Salas-e Babajani County which mentioned byHerodotus(5th century BC) andPtolemy(1st century AD). For decades Darneh/ Derne has been capital ofDerteng,HulwanandBajalandynasties, but now is a small village inDoli Dere Regionin Central District of Salas-e Babajani County.[4]
Administrative history
[edit]After the 2011 National Census,JeygaranandSarqalehRural Districts were separated fromEzgeleh Districtto joinSarpol-e Zahab County.
In 2019,Zamkan Rural District[b]was separated from theCentral Districtin the establishment ofZamkan District,which was divided into two rural districts, including the newZamkan-e Shomali Rural District.[5]

[edit]On 12 November 2017 at 18:18 UTC (21:48Iran Standard Time,21:18Arabia Standard Time), anearthquakewith amoment magnitudeof 7.3 occurred on theIran–Iraq border,just inside Iran, inEzgeleh,Salas-e Babajani County, with anepicentreapproximately 30 kilometres (19 mi) south of the city ofHalabja,Kurdistan Region.[6]

[edit]At the time of the 2006 census, the county's population was 37,056 in 7,734 households.[7]The following census in 2011 counted 38,475 people in 8,830 households.[8]The 2016 census measured the population of the county as 35,219 in 9,270 households.[2]

Notable people
[edit]Khana Qubadi(1700–1759), who lived inDernethe capital ofDertengandBajelandynasties located in modern day Salas-e Babajani County, translatedQuranfirst time in history to theKurdish language.Unfortunately, his translation book had been burned by extremists, accordingly he had to be fugitive to theBabandynasty capital inShahrizor.Vali Dewaneis another poet who lived inDerne.The biography of Vali Dewane has been cames in love likeMajnun,even more than him.[9][clarification needed]
Kasra Nouri,a lawyer and Gonabadi dervish imprisoned in Tehran's Revolutionary Court, has been sentenced to two years in exile for Salas-e Babajani.[10]
