Samuel Dopping

Samuel Dopping(1671 – 17 September 1720) was anAnglo-Irishpolitician.

Dopping was theMember of ParliamentforArmagh Boroughin theIrish House of Commonsbetween 1695 and 1715. In 1711 he was made a member of thePrivy Council of Ireland.He then representedDublin Universityfrom 1715 until his death.[1]In parliament, Dopping was initially aligned to theWhigfaction, but exercised increasing independence, particularly in defence of the establishedChurch of Irelandand opposition to the amendment of Irish bills by the British Privy Council.[2]
