Sano shunt

ASano shuntis a shunt from theright ventricleto thepulmonary circulation.[1][2][3]

In contrast to aBlalock–Taussig shunt,circulation is primarily insystole.[citation needed]

It is sometimes used as the first step in aNorwood procedure.[citation needed]

This procedure was pioneered by theJapanesecardiothoracic surgeonShunji Sano[ja]in 2003.[4]
