It was spoken in Botawa village of Waropen Bawah Subdistrict inWaropen Regency.Woriais also spoken in Botawa village.[2]
It shared half of its basic vocabulary with theRasawa language, but it is not clear that they were related. Saponi shared none of its pronouns with theLakes Plain familythat Rasawa is part of; indeed its basic pronounsmamire"I, we" andba"thou" are reminiscent ofproto–East Bird's Head*meme "we" and *ba "thou".
