Scott Bealeis an Americansocial entrepreneurand federal government official who serves as the Associate Director for Global Operations atPeace Corps.[1]Before government service, Beale was the founder and chief executive officer ofAtlas Corps,a leadership development program for nonprofit professionals.[2]Sometimes called a "reversePeace Corps",Atlas Corps brings leaders from all around the world to serve in cities across theUnited States.
Early life, education and early activism[edit]
Beale grew up inDelawareand attended the Tatnall School. He attended college atGeorgetown University,from which he graduated in 1998. Beale holds anMPAfrom theUniversity of Delaware.[3]
While an undergraduate at Georgetown University, he organized political rallies at theU.S. Capitoland registered youth voters forRock the Vote.[4]Beale also interned for then-Delaware SenatorJoseph R. Biden Jr.
Career[edit]
After college, Beale worked for the State Department fightinghuman traffickinginIndiaand inBosniaorganizing elections in the late 1990s. He also worked atAshoka's Youth Ventureprogram and in the Clinton White House. Beale founded Atlas Corps in 2006.
Beale is a co-author with Abeer Abdalla ofMillennial Manifesto: A Youth Activist Handbook(2003), a book about the politics of theMillennial Generationpublished throughself-publishingpress InstantPublisher.[5]
In January 2021, Beale joined Peace Corps as the Associate Director for Global Operations in apolitical appointeerole.[1]
