Sean Kerr(born 8 November 2004) is an English rugby union player who plays forHarlequinsin theEnglishPremiership.
Early life and career
[edit]Kerr was born in 2004 inJohannesburg,South Africa.[3]He began playing rugby as a five-year-old at Effingham & Leatherhead RFC inSurrey.[3]He joinedSutton & Epsom RFC[4]inSouthwest Londonbefore he later joined theHarlequins Academy.[3]Kerr also attended theWhitgift SchoolinSouth Croydon,London.[2][5]
Harlequins
[edit]Playing with theHarlequins Academyfrom at least 2017,[2]Kerr was promoted to the senior team ahead of the2023–24 season[1]having played forEnglandnational youth teams consistently since 2022.[2]After making an appearance atoutside centreagainstNottinghamin the2023–24 Premiership Rugby Cupin October,[6]he was subsequently loaned out toRichmondin theNational League 1(third tier) between September and November 2023.[7]
International career

[edit]While at theHarlequins AcademyKerr was a part ofEngland U17,U18andU19teams for 2022–2023, and touredSouth Africafor the U18 International Series in 2022.[5]Kerr played a total of five games for the U18s.[2]Kerr also played two games in 2023 forEngland U19sagainstWales U19sandItaly U18s.[8][9]
2024
[edit]Kerr was named in theEngland U20ssquad ahead of the2024 U20 Six Nations Championship.[10]He started againstfirst roundopponentsItaly.[11]Kerr scored the first points of the match and scored seven points in total before being subbed off at half-time.[11]Englandwon 11–36 inTreviso.[11]Missing thesecond roundfixture againstWales,Kerr played the remainder of England's Six Nations campaign as starting inside centre and was named “player of the match”against theirround threeopponents,Scotland.[12]Kerr scored forty points overall for England,[13]including one try. England won the2024 U20 Six Nations Championship,clinching the title by table point overIreland.[14]
Following from his performances and status with England, Kerr was again in theEngland U20squad for the2024 U20 ChampionshipinSouth Africa.[15]Aside from a pool stage fixture againstFiji U20,Kerr started and played every England U20 match, and proved vital in both knockout stage matches, scoring a combined thirty-two points (including one try) in theSemi-finalsandFinal.England won the2024 U20 Championship,defeatingFrance U2021–13.[16][17]
