Seini(German:Leuchtenburg;Hungarian:Szinérváralja) is a town inMaramureș County,Romania.It administers two villages, Săbișa (Kissebespatak) and Viile Apei (Apahegy). It officially became a town in 1989, as a result of theRomanian rural systematization program.

Geography

The town is located in the western part of Maramureș County, 27 km (17 mi) from the county seat,Baia Mare,on the border withSatu Mare County.It belongs to theBaia Mare metropolitan area.

Seini is crossed bynational roadDN1C(part ofEuropean route E58), which runs fromCluj-Napocanorth towards Baia Mare and the border crossing atHalmeu,where it connects with theUkrainian highwayM26.The town has two train stations (Seiniand Săbișa), both serving theCFRMain Line 400,which connectsBrașovwith Baia Mare andSatu Mare.
