Shark Keyis an island in the lowerFlorida Keysabout 7 miles (11 km) east ofKey West.
It is located north of, and connected to,U.S. 1(or theOverseas Highway) at approximately mile marker 11.5, between theSaddlebunch KeysandBig Coppitt Key.It is part of thecensus-designated placeofBig Coppitt Key, Florida.[1]
Its earlier name wasStark Key.
