TheSipsey Riveris a 145-mile-long (233 km)[2]swampy low-lying river in west centralAlabama.The Sipsey is surrounded by wetland habitat. It originates nearGlen Allen,and discharges into theTombigbee RivernearVienna.[3]The river belongs to theSoutheastern Coastal Plainand features an eastern deciduous forest terrestrial biome.[1]Sipseyis a name derived from theChoctaw languagemeaning "poplar tree".[4]
