Sphindidaeis a family ofbeetles,in the suborderPolyphaga.[1][2]They are calledslime mold beetlesdue to their exclusive feeding onslime moldsduring adult and larval stages, other aspects of their life history are obscure.[3]Palaeontological discoveries since 2015 have added to the geologic history of Sphindidae, including the discovery ofLibanopsis,placed in the extinct subfamilyLibanopsinae.
