Spiny lizardsis acommon namefor thegenusSceloporusin thefamilyPhrynosomatidae.The genus isendemictoNorth America,with various species ranging fromNew York,toWashington,and one occurring as far south as northernPanama.[1]The greatest diversity is found inMexico.This genus includes some of the most commonly seen lizards in theUnited States.Other common names for lizards in this genus includefence lizards,scaly lizards,bunchgrass lizards,andswifts.[2]
