Taxonomy
[edit]The genusSpizixoswas introduced in 1845 by the English zoologistEdward Blythto accommodate thecrested finchbill.[1]The wordSpizixoscombines theAncient Greekspizameaning "finch" with the genus nameIxosthat was introduced byCoenraad Jacob Temminckin 1825.[2]
The genus contains two species:[3]
