H World International,[3]formerly brandedDeutsche HospitalityandSteigenberger Hotel Group,is the umbrella brand of the Germanhotel chaincompany Steigenberger Hotels AG. Since 2020, it is a subsidiary of the ChineseHuazhu Hotels Groupand operates hotels under several brands, includingSteigenberger,IntercityHotelandZleep Hotels.[4]

The company was founded by Albert Steigenberger in 1930 and was run as a family business by the descendants of the founder, who died in 1958.[5]
In 2009, the Egyptian travel and tourism companyTravco Groupacquired Steigenberger Hotels.[6]In 2016, the company was rebranded as Deutsche Hospitality.[7][8]On 4 November 2019, it was announced that the ChineseHuazhu Hotels Groupthrough one of their subsidiaries has purchased Deutsche Hospitality for 700 million Euro.[9]
Since 1 November 2020, Marcus Bernhardt has beenCEOand chairman of the management board of Steigenberger Hotels AG/Deutsche Hospitality.[1][10]
In 2024, Deutsche Hospitality announced a rebranding and name change to H World International.[3]

Furthermore, there are currently three new brands in development, namelySteigenbergerPorsche DesignHotels,House of BeatsandJi Hotel.[11]
