AldermanStephen William Moutray(born 25 February 1959) is aDemocratic Unionist Party(DUP) politician, serving as anArmagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Councillorfor theLurganDEA since December 2018. He was aMember of the Legislative Assembly(MLA) forUpper Bannfrom2003to2016.[1] Moutray was also a Lurgan councillor onCraigavon Borough Council,from2001to 2014, where he served as Mayor from 2010 to 2011.

Career[edit]

Moutray was first elected toCraigavon Borough Council,in the2001 local elections,representing the Lurgan District. He was a member of all the major committees and additionally served as vice-chairman of Environmental Health Committee. [2]

He was elected to theNorthern Ireland Assemblyat the2003 electionfor Upper Bann.

Moutray stood down from the Assembly at the2016 election.

He was later co-opted to theLurgan DistrictonArmagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Councilin December 2018, succeeding Phillip Moutray.

Moutray was subsequently re-elected to the council at the2019 council election,as well as in2023.

Personal life[edit]

Moutray was educated atLurgan Junior High SchoolandLurgan College.After which he worked in his family business and then in the postal service. He has been a member of theDemocratic Unionist Partysince 1979. Married with 3 children, he has keen interest ingolf,walkingandcycling.[3]He is an active member of theFree Presbyterian Church of Ulster.
