Steve Chang,is aTaiwanesebusinessperson and the co-founder and former CEO ofTrend Micro,the world's largest software security firm.[1]He was named "Star of Asia" by theBusiness Weekin 1999,[2]and he was selected as one of the six protagonists of theDiscovery Channel'sPortraits Taiwan IIin 2006.

Life[edit]

Chang was born inPingtung, Taiwan.After graduating fromNational Pingtung Senior High School,Chang attendedFu Jen Catholic University's Department of Mathematics where he earned a bachelor's degree in 1977, then he studied in theUnited Statesand obtained a master's degree in computer science fromLehigh Universityin 1979.[3]

After returning to Taiwan, he worked forHewlett-Packardand was the head of sales operations in seven counties and cities insouthern Taiwan.[3]In 1988, he foundedTrend Microin the US with his wife Jenny Chen (Trần di trăn) and his wife's sisterEva Chen(Trần di hoa).[4]

In 1999, Chang won theFu Jen Outstanding Alumni Awardwith theHarvard UniversityprofessorLee-Jen Weiand nine other people.[5]In the same year, he was also named "Star of Asia" by theBusiness Week.[2]One decade later, Chang won theCNBC8th Asian Business Leaders Award.[6][better source needed]

He retired in 2006, and lives inHualien, Taiwan.[4]
