Sun Rasterwas araster graphicsfile format used onSunOSbySun Microsystems.[1]The format has noMIMEtype,[2]it is specified in@(#)rasterfile.h 1.11 89/08/21 SMI.The format was used for some research papers.[3][4]
ACDSee,FFmpeg,GIMP,ImageMagick,IrfanView,LibreOffice,Netpbm,PaintShop Pro,PMView,andXnViewamong others support Sun Raster image files.[5][6]In version 2.13XnViewsupported the file extensions.rasand.sunfor thisgraphics file format.In version 2.1.4FFmpegcould encode and decode Sun Raster pixel formatsbgr24, pal8, gray,andmonow.[7]The format does not support transparency.
The plain text Sun icon format specified in@(#)icon_load.h 10.5 89/09/05 SMIis unrelated to the Sun Raster format.[8]
