TheTanafjord(Tanafjorden(Norwegian),Deanuvuotna(Northern Sami),orTenonvuono(Kven)[1]) is a largefjordinFinnmarkcounty,Norway.It is located in the municipalities ofTana,Gamvik,andBerlevåg.Its orientation is mainly north–south, reaching approximately 65 kilometres (40 mi) from the small village ofSmalfjordinTana Municipalityin the south to the mouth of the fjord at theBarents Sea.The fjord separates theNordkinn Peninsula(Gamvik Municipality) in the west from theVaranger Peninsula(Berlevåg Municipality) in the east.[2]
TheTana Riverempties into the southern part of the fjord. There are several side fjords which branch off of the main Tanafjorden including theHopsfjorden,Langfjorden,andGulgofjorden.There are some settlements along the fjord, but they are all small and rather isolated. Settlements include the villages ofVestertana,Austertana,Trollfjorden,Skjånes,Nervei,andStore Molvik.Norwegian County Road 98andNorwegian County Road 890run along the southern parts of the fjord.[2]
