Tang Muhan(Chinese:Canh mộ hàm,born 4 September 2003) is a Chineseswimmer.[2]She competed in thewomen's 400 metre freestyleat the2020 Summer Olympics.[3][4]
Early life
[edit]Born in 2003 inChangchun,Tang started to practice swimming at the age of 7 in 2010. In 2011, she was sent to a swimming club inJilinfor training and in 2012, she was selected by the swimming team of the Bayi Engineering Brigade of thePeople's Liberation Armyand trained with the Bayi Team.[5][6][7]
Swimming career
[edit]In December 2014, Tang officially joined theShenzhensports' swimming team and began her career as a professional athlete.[8]
At the 800 meter freestyle at the2019 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships,she achieved eighth position. In her other two individual starts and all three women's relays, she was unable to place among the top eight.[9][10]In 28 July 2021, atwomen's 4x200m freestyleduring the2020 Summer OlympicsinTokyo,Japan, she along withYang Junxuan,Zhang YufeiandLi Bingjiewon the first gold medal for China in the event, and also attained world-record and Olympic record finish at 7:40.33.[11]
