The Chinese Boxer( long hổ đấu; also known by its international titleThe Hammer of God) is a 1970 Hong Kongactionkung fu filmwritten, directed by and starringJimmy Wang Yu.[2][3][4]Tong Gaai was the action director.The Chinese Boxerwas a box office success at the time of its release and resulted in a switch of emphasis within thewuxiagenre away from swordsmanship and towards unarmed combat[5].It would prove influential to subsequent films likeFist of Fury.[6]
The film was followed by a 1977 sequel calledReturn of the Chinese Boxer.[7]
Synopsis[edit]
A Chinese boxer takes revenge on a gang of Japanesekaratethugs who decimated hismartial artsschool.
