The Forecasteris a regional newspaper in southernMainethat is published weekly and distributed for free. Formerly owned byMaineToday Media,[2]the paper and its different versions throughout the state were sold to the Maine Trust for Local News in August 2023.[3]In 2012, they announced a partnership with theBangor Daily Newsin which they would collaborate on news-gathering and publish stories across the websites of both newspapers.[4]
Different versions[edit]
It publishes several different versions, including:[5]
- the "Portland Forecaster" covering the city ofPortland;
- the "Northern Forecaster", which covers the towns north of Portland (Falmouth,Cumberland,North Yarmouth,Yarmouth,Freeport,andChebeague);
- the "Southern Forecaster", which covers the towns south of Portland (South Portland,Scarborough,andCape Elizabeth);
- and the "Coastal Journal Edition Forecaster" edition which covers towns farther east along the coast, includingBrunswick,Topsham,Bath,andHarpswell.
The "Mid-Coast Forecaster" was aimed at the same towns as what is now the Coastal Journal Edition, but was merged with theCoastal Journalto form the Coastal Journal Edition Forecaster.[6]
Collectively, these papers are referred to asThe Forecasters.[7]
