The Windsors: Endgameis a play by George Jeffrie andBert Tyler-Moorebased on theirChannel 4sitcomThe Windsors.It is a parody of theBritish royal family,theHouse of Windsor.

Production history[edit]

The play is directed byMichael Fentimanand was written by Bert Tyler-Moore and the late comedy writer George Jeffrie, who died on 19 September 2020[1]after writing the first draft of the script.[2]The live show starsHarry Enfield,who reprises the role of theCharlesfrom the TV sitcom, a character who is now seen in the production as the King.[3]

On 24 June 2021, further casting was announced withMatthew Cottle,Tom-Durrant Pritchard and Tim Wallers (who also appeared in the sitcom) joining Enfield on stage.[4][5]

The play opened at thePrince of Wales TheatreinLondon'sWest Endon 2 August and ran until 9 October 2021.

Reviews[edit]

Arifa Akbar inThe GuardiangaveThe Windsors: Endgamea one star review and said that the spin-off was "akin to seeingSex and the City: The Movie"with her high expectation" met by crashing disappointment ",[2]while the two star review inThe Telegraphby Clive Davis stated that the play failed "to make use of its prime asset,Harry Enfield".[6]
