Thereuodonis agenusofextinctmammalknown from theEarly Cretaceousof southernEngland,MoroccoandFrance.[1]The type species, named by Denise Sigogneau-Russell in1989for teeth from the earliest CretaceousKsar Metlili Formationof Morocco, isThereuodon dahmani,while the referred species named by Sigogneau-Russell and Paul Ensom for teeth from theLulworth Formationof England isThereuodon taraktes.The two species are separated by a break in thecinguluminT. dahmani,a more obtuse medial crest inT. taraktes,a duller stylocone inT. taraktes,a "c" cuspule inT. dahmani,and a reduced facet A inT. taraktes.The genusThereuodonis the only taxon in thesymmetrodontfamilyThereuodontidae,which may be closely related toSpalacotheriidae.[2]A tooth referred toT. cf. taraktesis known from the Berriasian agedAngeac-Charente bonebedof France.[1]
