Thompson's Pointis a promontory and entertainment venue in theLibbytownneighborhood ofPortland, Maine,United States. It is located around 1.7 miles (2.7 km) southwest of downtown Portland, on the northern banks of theFore River.It sits across the river from the outflow ofLong CreekinSouth Portland.Interstate 295andU.S. Route 1pass beside it to the east.[1]

Thompson's Point served as a port for barge and boat traffic on theCumberland and Oxford Canalin the 19th century. Several historic brick structures remain from its days as a train repair and storage facility in the second half of the 19th century,[2]due to its proximity toPan Am Railways' Mountain Branch line, formerly theMountain Divisionof theMaine Central Railroad.

Today, it is a venue for outdoor summer concerts and ice-skating in the winter.[1]
