ATillanaorthillanais a rhythmic piece inSouth IndianCarnatic musicthat is generally performed at the end of a concert and widely used inclassical indian danceperformances. It was popularised by Dr.M Balamuralikrishna,Lalgudi Jayaramanand some other musicians[1][2][3]A Tillana uses tala-like phrases in thepallaviandanupallavi,and lyrics in thecharanam.

Thethillanais based on thetaranawhich was introduced byAmir Khusrau(1253-1325 CE).[4]
