Timothy Carter Cossins(/ˈkʌzɪns/KUH-zins;[1]born March 31, 1970)[2]is an Americanprofessional baseballcoachfor theBaltimore OriolesofMajor League Baseball.[3]

Career[edit]

Cossins graduated fromSanta Rosa High SchoolinSanta Rosa, California.[4]He attendedSanta Rosa Junior College,[5]and transferred to theUniversity of Oklahomaand playedcollege baseballfor theOklahoma Sooners.[6]ThePittsburgh Piratesselected Cossins in the 39th round of the1992 MLB draft,but he did not sign with Pittsburgh, returning to Oklahoma.[7]TheTexas Rangersselected him in the 16th round of the1993 MLB draft.[8]He played inMinor League Baseballthrough 2000. After his playing career, he worked for theMiami Marlinsas a minor leaguemanagerfor four years, and then became the Marlins' minor league catching coordinator in 2007. He was hired by theChicago Cubsafter the 2012 season to be their minor league field coordinator, succeedingBrandon Hyde,who was promoted to be the Cubs' director of player development.[9]

TheBaltimore Orioleshired Cossins from the Cubs after the 2018 season to join Hyde's coaching staff.[10][11]He will serve as a major league field coordinator and catching instructor.[12]

Personal life[edit]

Cossins lives inSanta Rosa, California.He and his wife have a son who served as avolunteer firefighterduring theOctober 2017 Northern California wildfires.[13]
