Tiruchanur(also known asAlamelu Mangapuram) is asuburband neighbourhood ofTirupatiand is located inTirupati districtof theIndian stateofAndhra Pradesh.[2]It is a part of Tirupatiurban agglomeration.[2]It is the mandal headquarters ofTirupati Rural mandal.[4]It is a religious destination forHindu pilgrimsdue to the presence ofPadmavathi Temple.[5]It falls in the jurisdictional limit of Tirupati Urban Development Authority.
Etymology
[edit]It was originally called AlarMelMangai Puram, based on evidence from thousands of inscriptions in and around Tirupathi, later corrupted to Alamelu Mangapuram.[6]
Transport
[edit]Alamelu mangapuram is located about 4 km from Tirupati central bus station andTirupati Mainrailway station. It provides rail connectivity and is one of the satellite railway stations forTirupati,[7]which is under process of upgradation to aB categorystation.[8]This place is famous for Kalyanamandapams and Function halls. People believe that it’s very auspicious to get married atTiruchanur.TTD owns some function halls in Tollappa Gardens. Plenty of home stays/service apartments are also available for economical stay. Several restaurants are also available for the pilgrims coming to Tirupati.
Education
[edit]The primary and secondary school education is imparted by government, aided and private schools, under theSchool Education Departmentof the state.[9][10]
