Tolmeita,[1]Tolmeta[2]orTolmeitha[3]Arabic:طلميتة[4]is a village in the northernCyrenaicaregion of easternLibya,some 110 km (68 mi) east ofBenghazi,near Ad Dirsiyah. Its name is derived fromGreekΠτολεμαΐς (Ptolemais), the name of the classical city ofPtolemais,whose ruins are nearby.
