Career

In 1989, he was nominated for theBritish Academy Television Awardfor Best Production Design for his work on Series 1 ofAlan Bennett'sTalking Heads.[1]He was nominated for the same award in 1996 for his work on the 1995 miniseriesThe Buccaneers.[2]

In 1996, Burrough was nominated for theAcademy Award for Best Art Directionfor the 1995 filmRichard III.[3]He won the 1997BAFTA Award for Best Production Designfor the same film.[4]In 2000, he was nominated for thePrimetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Art Direction for a Miniseries or MoviealongsideChoi Ho ManandDominic Smithersfor their work on the television miniseriesArabian Nights.[5]

Burrough's production design has been praised by many critics.Kenneth Turanof theLos Angeles Timesreferred to his settings in several films as being "so satisfying that they're a reason to see the film all by themselves".[6]His design ofSanta's workshopandelf villageinThe Santa Clause 2was praised byKevin Thomasas being "the film's strongest asset".[7]
