Too Many Girlsopened on Broadway on October 18, 1939, at theImperial Theatre,running to April 21, 1940, and transferred to theBroadway Theatreon April 22, 1940, closing on May 18, 1940. The cast featuredDesi Arnaz,Diosa Costello,Marcy Westcott,Eddie Bracken,Richard Kollmar,Van Johnson,andHal Le Roy.[1]Directed byGeorge Abbott,the Musical Staging was byRobert Alton,scenery byJo Mielziner,and costumes byRaoul Pène Du Bois.[2]

The musical takes place inSkowhegan, Maineand Pottawatomie College in Stop Gap, New Mexico.[2]

Arnaz and Bracken repeated their roles in the 1940RKO Radio Picturesfilm version. The film cast also featuredLucille Ball,Richard Carlson,Ann Miller,andVan Johnson
