Trallpunk

Trallpunk(Swedish;roughly translates to 'melodious punk' — seethe Wiktionary entry) is a subgenre ofpunk musicdeveloped inSweden.It is known for its two-beat, fast drum tempos, a melodic sound with harmonized vocals, and politically oriented lyrics in Swedish.[1] Generally, trallpunk music advocates for left wing political causes.Asta Kask[2]is considered to be one of the first trallpunk bands. During the 1990s, trallpunk saw increased popularity, particularly due to the clubKafé 44inStockholmand the bandDe Lyckliga Kompisarna(The Happy Friends).

Today, trallpunk is represented through bands such asVarnagel,Slutstation Tjernobyl,Greta Kassler,andDe Lyckliga Kompisarna.[3]Internationally, bands likeRasta KnastandTakahashi Gumi[4]are examples.
