History

Trygve Lie Gallery was established to promoteNorwegian Americanculture andScandinavian artto a broad audience inNew York City.On September 19, 2003, the gallery was opened by the former Norwegian Ambassador to the United States,Knut Vollebæk.Trygve Lie Gallery has exhibited a number of leading Norwegian and Scandinavian artists. In addition to exhibiting art and documentary projects, the gallery space is used for recitals, conferences, and performances.[2][3]

Trygve Lie Gallery is named forTrygve Lie,who was the firstSecretary-General of the United Nations.There are maintaining connections to theUnited Nations Headquarterswhich is situated ten blocks south of the gallery. The gallery is located in and run by theNorwegian Seamen's Church in New Yorkwhich has more than a 130 years of history in New York City.[4][5][6]
