Tubi 60is a citrus basedliqueurand is 40%alcohol by volume.[1]The drink is developed and produced inIsraelutilizing local herbs, fruits and spices.[2][3]
History and origin
[edit]Tubi 60 was developed in 2012 by two brothers: Hilal and Yanai Tubi inHaifa,Israel.[2][4]
In 2013 the first distillery was opened in Haifa and obtained necessary approvals, licenses, and legal documents from theIsraeli Health Ministryto produce Tubi 60. The liquor is also approved by theTTB.[1][2][5]
Increased demand throughout the following year led to the founding of a larger distillery in 2015 by the two brothers.[3]In 2017, the Tubi company started exporting the liquor to theUS,Hungary,Norway,Germanyand other countries.[1]
Composition and taste
[edit]Tubi 60 is made oflemonas well as other localcitrusfruits. It is infused withherbs,spices,tree and flower extracts, includingginger,mint,anise,saffron,turmericandcumin.[4][6][7]Tubi 60 is most commonly served as a shot or a shooter, or mixed withtonic waterorseltzer.[8]The makers of Tubi 60 claim the ingredients leave the consumer with a "refreshing and uplifting feeling".[1][2][4]
Marketing
[edit]Tubi 60's popularity in Israel increased mainly by word of mouth.[7]Initially spread by word of mouth through the friends and family of the two founders, it became a frequently requested drink in bars, withJerusalembeing the first city to serve it as a staple. It took until 2014 for the drink to reachTel Aviv's bar scene. Its popularity there cemented it as a countrywide mainstay.[4][5][7]
