Tulan Qaghan(Chinese:Đều lan Khả Hãn / đều lan Khả Hãn,Pinyin:dōulán kěhàn,Wade-Giles:tu-lan k'o-han,Middle Chinese(Guangyun):[tu˥lɑn˩kʰɑ˥ɣɑn˩˥],personal name: A sử kia ung ngu lư / a sử kia ung ngu lư, āshǐnà yōngyúlǘ, a-shih-na yung-yü-lü) was the seventh qaghan (Khaqan) of theTurkic Khaganateand the son ofIshbara Qaghan.

Reign[edit]

In 593 he collected enough power to stop paying taxes toEmperor Wendi.His wifePrincess Qianjinsecretly plotted with the khagan's rivalTuli(who claimed the throne in 593) to attack the Sui Empire when her husband refused to do so. This plot was exposed by Chang sun-sheng, a spy of the Sui Empire. Tulan Qaghan combined his forces withTarduin 599 and launched an invasion on Sui, but he was assassinated by his own men in 599.[1]

Family[edit]

He married his father's wife,Northern Zhou's Princess Qianjin, now known under theSui dynastytitle Princess Dayi. Her new name was given to her by theSui Emperor Wendiin order to create a marriage alliance with theTurks.
