Udyotakara

Udyotakara(orUddyotakara) (c. 6th century CE) was a philosopher of theNyayaschool of Indian philosophy.Subandhu’sVāsavadattāmentioned him as the rescuer of theNyaya.He was abrahminofBharadvajagotraand he belonged to thePashupatasect. His philosophical treatise, theNyāyavārttikawas written to defendPakṣilasvāmin Vātsyāyana'sNyāyabhāṣyaagainst the criticisms made byDignaga.[1]
