TheUniversity of Johannesburg Women's F.C.,also knowns asUJ Ladies F.C.,is thefootballclub representing theUniversity of Johannesburgbased inJohannesburg, Gauteng.The senior team competes in theSAFA Women's League,the top tier women's football league in South Africa.[1]

History[edit]

In 2018, they won their firstUniversity Sport South Africa (USSA)title and defended the title in 2019.[2][3]

In 2022, they won the2022 FNB Women's Varsity Football Cupedition 5-3 on penalties following a goalless draw against defending championsUWC Ladieson Sunday, 16 October 2022.[4]

The team won their thirdUniversity Sport South Africa (USSA)title in 2022 winning 1-0 against theTuks Ladies.[5]

They were runners up for the2023 FNB Women's Varsity Footballedition following a 2-0 loss against theUniversity of Western Cape.[6][7]

In the2024season, they made their best start to theleagueand were tied on points with log leaderMamelodi Sundowns Ladiesafter 11 matches.[8]

U/20 squad[edit]

The junior team won the 2022Gauteng Engen Knockout Challengeby defeating theJVW Sapphires2-0 in the final held at Wits Marks Park. They were runner's up at the inauguralPirates Cupfollowing a 2-1 defeat to theTuks Ladies U/20side in March 2023.[9]They successfully defended theirGauteng Engen Knockout Challengetitle in July 2023 winning 1-0 againstJVW Sapphires.[10]

In 2024 they lost theEngen Knockout Challenge4-3 via penalties toMamelodi Sundowns Ladies U/20after the match ended in a goalless draw.[11]
