Image:Menthol.png

[edit]

Hi there! Thanks for adding the imageImage:Menthol.png.It currently doesn't have animage copyright tag,and I was hoping that you wouldadd oneas untagged images may be deleted eventually. (You can use {{gfdl}} to license it under theGFDL,or {{fairuse}} if you claimfair use, etc.) Thanks! --Diberri|Talk23:26, Aug 31, 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for the extra note about the image. If it's original work drawn by a Japanese Wikipedian, I'm assuming it's GFDL, since they checked the Wikipedia copyright box. I've placed the {{GFDL}} tag on the image to indicate this. Thanks,Diberri|Talk21:30, Sep 6, 2004 (UTC)

Asian Cup

[edit]

Hi, your Asian Cup articles appear to have no content apart from an external link. Since Wikipedia is not a link farm, such "articles" would normally be deleted on sight. However, since you appear to have gone to some trouble to set these up, I'll hold fire for the time being to let you add some text and make these acceptable articles.jimfbleak07:41, 24 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Hello! I wanted to ask you to upload your images at [http:commons.wikimedia.org commons.wikimedia.org] instead en.wikipedia.org, as they are available to all wikipedias, not just to the english one. This way there's no need to upload (and have in memory) a lots of times the same image. Thank you very much for your logos atPrimera División Argentina!--MarianoJuly 4, 2005 11:03 (UTC)

Edit summary

[edit]

Dear contributor, first I would like to say a big thank you for your time, care, and enthusiasm in editing Wikipedia articles. I hope you find it just as much fun as I do.

I am writing with a small suggestion. I wonder if you could write an edit summary every time you make changes to an article (or when you start a new one). Even a short summary helps. To see how often you have done so in the past, you may go tohttp://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Contributions&target=YOURUSERNAME.

Edit summaries are important for a number of reasons. Every time you change an article, a record of that change propagates to every single person who has that article on their watchlist. Most people have an article on their watchlist because they care a lot about it, so they would like to be informed about what is going on with it. Accurate summaries help people decide whether it is worthwhile for them to check a change. This is why your edit summary, which will take you maybe 15 seconds, is a time-saver and a great act of candor to the other people interested in the same article as you. Accurate edit summaries are important because they create trust regarding your contributions and help resolve disputes.

There are other, very convincing reasons for putting an edit summary. More information is available at Wikipedia:Edit summary. If at any point you have any questions about this rule (or anything else for that matter), please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you and happy editing!FrancisTyers12:03, 18 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! If you are receiving this message, that means that your user page is in a specific year category. Per a recent user-category per deletion, all specific year categories are to be deleted. If you wish to continue using year categories, you have two options:

Unspecified source forImage:Zamalek_sc.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploadingImage:Zamalek_sc.gif.I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so thecopyrightstatus is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the{{GFDL-self}}tag can be used to release it under theGFDL.If you believe the media meets the criteria atWikipedia:Fair use,use a tag such as{{non-free fair use in|article name}}or one of the other tags listed atWikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use.SeeWikipedia:Image copyright tagsfor the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by followingthis link.Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged,as described oncriteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under anon-free license(perWikipedia:Fair use) thenthe image will be deleted48 hoursafter 19:32, 14 July 2007 (UTC).If you have any questions please ask them at theMedia copyright questions page.Thank you.OsamaK19:32, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale forImage:Argentinos_juniors.GIF

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing toImage:Argentinos_juniors.GIF.I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used underfair usebut there is noexplanation or rationaleas to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to theboilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be foundhere.

Please go tothe image description pageand edit it to include afair use rationale.Using one of the templates atWikipedia:Fair use rationale guidelineis an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions"link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting" Image "from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described oncriteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at theMedia copyright questions page.Thank you.BigrTex20:58, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Ultratomio

[edit]

Hi! How are you? I am writing to know if you could help translating a brief portion of an article that has a indirect/tangential relation to the Western Sahara cause. If you could translate a portion of thePIP English wikipedia entryfor theKoreanand/orJapanesewikipedia, I would be very grateful. Some friends had attempted to request this and asked me to help with this but my Japanese and Korean knowledge is so limited that I am not sure I could provide this brief summary-entry in those languages.

In the alternative that you could not help out with this, do you have anyone in mind that I may ask?

Thanks a million, Ultratomio!

A tag has been placed onTemplate:Chinese Super League 2007requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done undersection T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

[edit]

Thank you for uploadingImage:Akranes.gif.However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required byWikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have anexplanationlinking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is anon-free use rationaleon the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as animage copyright tag;descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with ourcriteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at themedia copyright questions page.Thank you. Speedy deletion ofImage:Ldu quito.GIF

[edit]

A tag has been placed onImage:Ldu quito.GIFrequesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done undersection I8 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is available as a bit-for-bit identical copy on theWikimedia Commonsunder the same name, or all references to the image on Wikipedia have been updated to point to the title used at Commons.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding{{hangon}}tothe top ofthe page that has been nominated for deletion(just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on[[ Talk:Image:Ldu quito.GIF|the talk page]]explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged forspeedydeletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contactone of these adminsto request that a copy be emailed to you.Sdrtirs(talk)20:27, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

.Commons is a repository of free media that can be used on all MediaWiki wiki's. The image(s) will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[Image:Liga Deportiva Universitaria logo.jpg]]. Gettting Wikimedians to the Olympic Games

[edit]

Hi. I am part of an effort to get Wikimedians access to the 2016 Summer Olympics as accredited reporters and photographers. Part of this effort includes covering the2012 Summer Paralympics. Two Wikimedians have credentials to attend these games as reporters through Wikimedia Australia. As English Wikipedia does not allow original reporting, this is largely throughWikinewswith a project page found atWikinews:Paralympic Games. If you are interested in helping to get Wikimedians to the next Summer Olympics,I'd encourage you to assist with Wikinews efforts, and also to work on all language 2012 Summer Paralympic Wikipedia articles before, during and after the Games to demonstrate a track record of success. Thank you. --LauraHale(talk)04:05, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Ulsan hyundai.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploadingFile:Ulsan hyundai.png.However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required byWikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available fromWikipedia:Non-free use rationale guidelineis an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as animage copyright tag;descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with ourcriteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at themedia copyright questions page.Thank you. --Marchjuly(talk)01:28, 29 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
