Verno(Greek:Βέρνο) orVitsi(Greek:Βίτσι) is a forestedmountain rangein the southern part of theFlorinaand the northeastern part of theKastoriaregional unitsinWestern Macedonia,northernGreece.The elevation of its highest peak, Verno, is 2,128 m (6,982 ft).[1]It stretches from the villageTrivounoin the northwest toKleisourain the southeast, over a length of about 30 km (19 mi). The nearest mountains are theAskioto the southeast, theBabato the north and the northernPindusto the southwest. It is drained towards the riverSakoulevas(a tributary of theCrna) to the northeast, and towards theAliakmonasandLake Kastoriato the southwest.
The nearest towns areKastoriato the southwest andFlorinato the northeast. Mountain villages in the Verno mountains include Trivouno,PolypotamoandTriantafylliain the north,Makrochori,VyssiniaandVasileiadain the south andNymfaioin the east. TheGreek National Road 2(Krystallopigi- Florina -Edessa-Thessaloniki) runs north of the mountains. There is a road to the top of the mountain Vitsi.
