Viking ship replicasare one of the more common types ofship replica.Viking,the first Viking ship replica, was built by theRødsverven shipyardinSandefjord, Norway.In 1893 it sailed across theAtlantic OceantoChicagoin theUnited Statesfor theWorld's Columbian Exposition.Formerly located inLincoln Park,Chicago, Illinois,theVikingis currently undergoing conservation inGeneva, Illinois,United States.[1]
There are a considerable number of modern reconstructions ofViking Ageships in service aroundNorthern EuropeandNorth America.TheViking Ship MuseuminRoskilde,Denmark, has been particularly prolific in building accurate reconstructions of archaeological finds in its collection.
