WCVS-FM(96.7MHz) is acommercialradio stationlicensedtoVirden, Illinois,and serving theSpringfield metropolitan area.It broadcasts anadult hitsradio format,branded as "96.7BOB FM."The station is currently owned by Neuhoff Corp., through licensee Neuhoff Media Springfield, LLC.[2]

WCVS-FM has aneffective radiated power(ERP) of 6,000watts.Theradio studiosare on South 4th Street inSouthern View, Illinois,using a Springfield address. Thetransmitteris inLoami, Illinois,on Lead Line Road at Acorn Road.[3]

History

The stationsigned onasWRVIon March 15, 1982.[4]It was the first station owned by Randal J. Miller whose companyVirden Broadcastingowns 16 stations in the Midwest as of 2022.[5]On October 5, 1992, the station changed itscall signto the currentWCVS-FMafter WCVS relocated from1450 AMto96.7 FMfollowing the purchase of the 96.7 FM frequency by Neuhoff Media. (1450 AM is now the home of co-ownedWFMB,asports radiostation.)

Following the change in call letters, WCVS-FM flipped formats toactive rock,going by the name "The Rock @ 96-7".

On January 7, 2011, at midnight, WCVS-FM began stunting with all-Bruce Springsteenmusic. At noon, it changed formats toclassic rock,branded as "96.7 The Boss". The first song on 96.7 The Boss wasTakin' Me Backby the bandCheap Trick,founded inRockford, Illinois.

On October 2, 2017, WCVS-FM changed its format toadult hits,branded as "96.7BOB FM".[6]
