WRAD-AM-FM are owned byMonticello MediaLLC. The studios and offices are on Lee Highway in Radford. WRAD-FM has aneffective radiated power(ERP) of 5,800 watts. Thetransmitteris on Lee Highway (U.S. Route 11) inFairlawn, Virginia,near theNew River.[4]
Programming
[edit]Much of the weekday schedule on WRAD-AM-FM isnationally syndicated.Hosts includeBrian Kilmeade,Charlie Kirk,Sean Hannity,Ben Shapiro,Dave RamseyandRed Eye Radio.Weekends feature shows on money, health, real estate, guns and technology. Weekend hosts includeKim KomandoandTom Gresham,as well as repeats of weekday shows. Most hours begin with an update fromFox News Radio.
History
[edit]The stationsigned onthe air in 1965. At first, it was asimulcastofWRAD(1460 AM), which had begun in 1950. Over the years, the FM station tried several different formats, with newcall signs:WRIQ, WNRV-FM, WBXW, WWBU. In 2018, it returned to its original call letters, WRAD-FM, as it began simulcasting atalk radioformat with its AMsister station.
WRAD-AM-FM had been owned and operated byCumulus Media,Inc.[5]On September 6, 2018, Cumulus Media announced it would sell itsBlacksburgcluster toMonticello Media.[6]The sale was approved December 1, 2018.[7]
