Wieniec-Zdrój[ˈvjɛɲɛt͡s ˈzdrui̯]is a spa in the administrative district ofGmina Brześć Kujawski,withinWłocławek County,Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship,in central Poland.[1]It lies approximately 9 kilometres (6 mi) north-east ofBrześć Kujawski,5 km (3 mi) west ofWłocławek,and 49 km (30 mi) south-east ofToruń.
History
[edit]Following the joint German-Sovietinvasion of Poland,which startedWorld War IIin September 1939, the village wasoccupied by Germany.Shortly before their withdrawal, on January 18, 1945, the Germans committed a massacre of ninePolesin Wieniec-Zdrój (seeNazi crimes against the Polish nation).[2]
