Wikipedia Day 16 SFis a fun Birthday bash andedit-a-thonto be held onSunday, January 15, 2017,hosted byBay Area WikiSalonat the Wikimedia Foundation'sChip Deubner Loungein the South of Market business district in downtown San Francisco.
The San Francisco gathering is one of a number ofWikipedia Daycelebrations worldwide.
The general public is invited. Participation will be free of charge, with room for 100 participants (hard fire marshal limit), each who should bring a photo ID for the doorperson. All are welcome, and we are especially interested in seeing newcomers join up with experienced Wikipedians/Wikimedians. We also hope for the participation of our friends from the free culture movement and from cultural institutions interested in developing open education projects.
Cake, snacks, and drinks will be sponsored byBay Area WikiSalonvia a Rapid Grant from the Wikimedia Foundation. There will be three birthday cakes (glutenous, gluten-free, and vegan), an ice cream social, and soft and hard beverages. Note: If you have a favorite beverage or treat, please bring some, and consider sharing it!
In addition to the party, the event will include anunconferencewithlightning talks,announcements from the floor, anedit-a-thon,and a Wikidata training session. The lightning talks will be determined during the event itself, so it will be good to bring your ideas with you, and any supporting material you need to pull it off.
The venue offers free Wi-Fi access, a projector, three screens, as well as handheld and lavaliere microphones.

Any topic you can personally present, about wiki topics or anythingfree culture-related(actual schedule for lightning talks will be determined last minute.) Lighting talks with active discussions can break out into Open Space sessions! Last-minute entries always accepted! The lounge has booths, counters, stools, couches, and one cubby to break out into. Please provide the number of minutes you will need. Please practice your talk in advance if possible, so you can adhere to your time allotment.
