There are many types ofweatherthat have caused untold number of deaths and damage throughout human history. Weather events have shaped culture and civilizations, with many events lost to history. It is the goal ofWikipediansto document these weather types, events, researchers, and trends. Since the 1960s, weather satellites have helped people around the world see the weather in real time. Computer models are getting better year after year in anticipating these disasters. Since 2001, Wikipedians have been writing about these weather events past and current. This page and its subpages contain their activities, assessments, suggestions, and web links related to these weather articles. It is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians. If you would like to help, please inquire on thetalk pageand see theto-do listthere.

Title[edit]

WikiProject Weather

Scope[edit]

The scope of WikiProject Weather is to have a single location for all weather-related articles on Wikipedia. This includesmeteorology,which is the study of weather, describing the mechanics of weather phenomena such aswindorhumidity.Meteorology includesatmosphericandoceanicphenomena, weather observation stations and networks, weather instrumentation and equipment, biographical articles on notablemeteorologists,weather research projects, weatherpredictionandmodeling,and phenomena related to every-dayweather.

The project includes every weather type, such asblizzards,cold front,droughts,European windstorms,extratropical cyclones,nor'easters,rain,tornadoes,tropical cyclones,andwildfires.Historical events involving or caused by these phenomena are included. Wherever possible, there should be lists of every recorded instance of the weather type in a given area. For example,Floods in Australia,Tornadoes in Bermuda,Typhoons in the Korean Peninsula,andSnow in Florida.

To aid with organization, WikiProject Weather is divided into two subprojects and nine task forces:
