It was formerly part of the parish of Duffield withinDuffield Frith.
During the reign ofHenry IIIthe Mynors, of the manor of Windle-hill inSutton-on-the-Hill,Ashbournealso had lands in Windley.[2]
Sir Roger Mynor wasHigh Sheriff of Derbyshirein 1514, Sergeant of the King's Cellar, an official ofDuffield Frithunder theDuchy of Lancasterand aCommissioner of Peacefor theCounty of Derby.He, with his lady, has a magnificent table-tomb in St. Alkmunds Church, Duffield.
