Yahya Qasim Sare'e(Arabic:يحيى قاسم سريع) is abrigadier generaland militaryspokespersonsince 2018 for theYemeni Armed Forces(SPC), an offshoot closely related with theHouthi movement(or more formallyAnsar Allah.)[3]He frequently appears in military statements made by the Yemeni Armed Forces most notably on theattacks targeting Zionist linked vesselspassing through theRed SeaandBab-el-Mandeb Strait.His statements are broadcast primarily viaAl-Masirah TV,hisTelegramchannel, and hisTwitteraccount, which was established on January 15, 2021.[4]

Early life[edit]

Yahya Sare'e was born in the year 1970 inSaada governorate,adjacent to the southernSaudi border.[2]He earned abachelor'sandmaster'sdegree inpolitical scienceand has also taken combat, security, administrative, and specialised courses inmilitary science.[2]

Career[edit]

In 2017, he was appointed head of the Psychological Warfare Division in Moral Guidance of theYemeni Armed Forces.[3]Also in the same year, he was promoted to the rank ofColonel.

In mid-2018, he was appointed the Director of the Moral Guidance Department of the Yemeni Armed Forces, and was subsequently promoted to the rank ofBrigadier General.On 17 October 2018, he was appointed as the official spokesman for theYemeni Armed Forces,succeeding Brigadier General Sharaf Luqman.[5]

On 3 May 2024, Yahya Sare'e announced in a televised speech that 'we will target any ships heading to Israeli ports in theMediterranean Seain any area we are able to reach.'[6]
