Yan Ruoqu

Yan Ruoqu(simplified Chinese:Diêm nếu cừ;traditional Chinese:Diêm nếu cừ;pinyin:Yán Ruòqú;Wade–Giles:Yen Jochü;November 11, 1636 – July 9, 1704) was an influential Chinese scholar of the earlyQing dynasty.He was born to a scholarly family inTaiyuan,Shanxi.Yan Ruoqu is most famous for proving that the "Old Text"chapters of theConfucianclassicBook of Documentswere forgeries (seezh: Thượng thư cổ văn sơ chứng).[1]He also made observations and theories about the motions ofthe Moonand theplanets.

Yan's work on theClassic of Historywas independently verified and praised byHui Dong(1697-1758), the verification work was finished by him andSun Xingyan.

Liang Qichaopraised Yan as being "number one textual scholar of the recent 300 years" (approx. translation from the Chinese Wiki quote không thể không cho rằng gần 300 năm học thuật giải phóng chi đệ nhất công thần, unreferenced). As such, he became an important precursor of theDoubting Antiquity School.
