Zadkiel(Hebrew:צִדְקִיאֵלṢīḏqīʾēl,'God is my Righteousness'), also known asHasdiel,[a]is anarchangelinJewishandChristianangelology.

[edit]As an angel of mercy, some texts claim that Zadkiel is the unnamed biblicalAngel of the Lordwho holds backAbrahamto prevent the patriarch from sacrificing his son,Isaac.Because of this, he is usually shown holding a dagger. Other texts citeMichaelorTadhielor some other angel as the angel intended, while others interpret the Angel of the Lord as atheophany.[3]

In fiction
[edit]In the Japanese light novel seriesDate A Live,Zadkiel is a spiritual weapon (referred to as Angels within the series), belonging to Yoshino Himekawa. Zadkiel takes the form of a large rabbit-like puppet that is capable of absorbing water from the air and ground, creating a cold mist that can freeze anything it touches.[citation needed]
