Zhang Yi(Chinese:TrươngNghị;born August 1950) is a Chinese politician. He was the Director of theState-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission,and the formerCommunist Party SecretaryofNingxia Hui Autonomous Region.[1][2]

Zhang Yi was born inBei'an County,Heilong gian gprovince. When he was 19, he began working at the forestry farm inHuma County,performing manual labour. He joined theChinese Communist Partyin February 1972. In 1984, he became the mayor and thenCommunist Party ChiefofTahe County,Heilong gian gprovince. In October 1990, he was promoted to party chief ofDa Hinggan Ling Prefecture.In May 2001, he became a deputy party chief of Heilong gian g province.[1][2]
In November 2006, Zhang was transferred toHebeiprovince, where he remained a deputy party chief. In September 2007, he was transferred to the central government where he was a deputy secretary of theCentral Commission for Discipline Inspectionof the Chinese Communist Party.[1][2]
In July 2010, Zhang was appointed Communist Party Chief ofNingxia Hui Autonomous Region,replacing retiringChen Jianguoas the top leader of the province-level region. In August he took the additional post as Chairman of Ningxia People's Congress.[1]He took charge of theState-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission,succeedingJiang Jiemin,who had been arrested on corruption charges. He served in the post for some three years,[2]before leaving active politics in December 2016 upon reaching retirement age. He was then transferred to serve on theNational People's Congress Internal and Judicial Affairs Committee.[3]
Zhang is a member of the18th Central Committeeof the Chinese Communist Party.[1][2]
